Revelation Translation Beta

I’m currently translating the Book of Revelation. The book is in beta and will remain completely free even after it is finished.

There are many good Bible translations, but Revelation is different. Most Bible translation work is done by scholars or publishers, not by writers. What would the Bible be like if a translation had been done by CS Lewis or JRR Tolkien? I would never presume to compare myself to one of those great writers, but I am giving my best at the Book of Revelation.

In the car he should have stayed.

Then no Skittles would have been stained.

Call 5-O, then go his own way?

Make up your mind, creep. And get outta’ 5-O’s way!

“Get over it,” they say.

His mother should sleep while y’all hit the hay?

Trayvon’s slain. “Get over it?” No way!

Tell that to the man who in his car should have stayed.

In the car he should have stayed.

Then no threads a’ gotten frayed.

Who’s on top? He jumped first?

None had been a problem if in the car he stayed.

Endanger two lives just to have his own way.

No life was in danger if police were obeyed.

“Defend himself” when from safety he strayed.

Shoots a kid half his age, now who gets away?

No life was in danger if in the car he stayed.

Jurors look another way.

Dear Congressman: Honor Edward Snowden

The following email was sent to my Congressman, Dave Camp of the 4th District of Michigan, Chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means…

Dear Congressman Camp,

For numerous reasons, all of which are benevolent and beyond mention, I formally request that Edward Snowden, reportedly in Hong Kong, be nominated for either the Congressional Medal of Honor or else the highest possible and comparable award available to civilians.

I ask that you make the nomination and, thus, secure your seat in the House with imperishable permanence.

Response to IHOPKC Critique

IHOPKC frequently teaches that prophets are not perfect and that everyone has sin before they go to be with the Lord. The Lord can speak through a person who can then go sin. That is not the Lord endorsing the sin nor is it the sin removing God’s permission to speak through sinful people or even donkeys. Trust God, not the prophet. This is said regularly and is evident in their culture.

Bob Jones was removed from IHOPKC shortly after this incident. In the early days of Jone’s relationship with Bickle, Jones said that he was “injured” and would not remain with Bickle’s ministry forever.

Paul Cain was removed from their fellowship swiftly after the homosexual situation had been discovered. · · · →
